The year winds down

We had a lovely Christmas. Christmas Eve was spent at Bob's parents' house with his family, then we came home and had our own little Christmas together. We kept it fairly small this year. I got underwear and jewelry and tarot cards, and he got underwear (a recurring theme!) and slippers and a computer game (Half Life 2). The kitties got new catnip mice, one of which Dinah has already chewed the tail off of . . .

We spent Christmas Day with my family. My sister and her family are here from Denver, but my brother's wife and children were visiting her parents in the Southwest. Barb was in town this week, and Bob took us out to lunch yesterday, then I had dinner with her last night with a couple of other friends.

We're planning on a nice, quiet New Year's Eve. Bob's going to make boiled, spiced shrimp and we're going to watch The Return of the King, which we bought right before Christmas and saved for this weekend.

Christmas happiness was, of course, mitigated by the terrible disaster in Southeast Asia, and I'm finding it hard to find the words to talk about it. I guess I'll leave it at that, with some links I've been following this week:
